The Summit Hunter is our precision deboning knife — built for serious hunters who need to work efficiently in demanding mountain terrain. Named for the high elevation ridgelines where Oregon's best elk hunting happens.

Four inches of mirror-polished 440C steel at 59 Rockwell, sub-zero treated for edge retention. Exceptional balance for extended field work — designed specifically for navigating complex joint structures and separating meat from bone with accuracy.

Every Cochran knife handle is crafted from genuine bone — processed, dyed, and finished by us in Sweet Home, Oregon. Bone accepts dye differently based on its unique density, natural grain, and composition. No two handles are ever identical.

The color, saturation, and pattern on your knife will be distinctly your own. The knives shown on our website represent the general color and style of each model. Your knife will have its own character while meeting our strict standards for quality, comfort, and durability.

We consider this a feature not a disclaimer. You are not buying a factory knife. You are buying something genuinely one of a kind.

Every handle is set into an inlaid pocket — our own design — and sealed with adhesive to create a waterproof bond stronger than traditional pinned construction.

Once you buy a Cochran knife you are on the bus. Ship any Cochran knife back to us and we will sharpen it and ship it back to you free of charge. No limit. No expiration. Forever.

We recently repaired a knife that burned in a house fire — free of charge. That is what For-Life means to us.

Any defect in materials or workmanship from normal use.
The promise passes to whoever you give the knife to — including your kids.

What is not covered:
Intentional damage or abuse beyond normal use.
Lost or stolen knives.
Normal wear such as handle patina or minor surface scratches.

How to send your knife in:

Custom Laser Engraving:
Personalize your Cochran knife with custom laser engraving — your name, a date, a meaningful phrase, or your company logo. Engraving is available at checkout through our Custom Laser Engrave option. Corporate logo engraving available for bulk orders — contact us for details.

Custom Bone Handle:
Want something truly personal? Bring us the bone from an animal you harvested and we will build your knife handle from it. Elk shin bone, blacktail femur, deer bone — any animal you have taken. We process it, dye it to your preference, and set it into your knife. We can engrave the date you killed the animal on the blade.

Every time you pick up that knife you are carrying that animal with you.

Contact us at info@cochranknifecompany.com or 541-401-2703 to discuss your custom project.
